§ Mr. Simon HughesTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on recent public opinion poll findings about the way forward in Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. AncramRecent opinion polls have shown that there is a strong desire for peace following the signing of the joint declaration on 15 December. The opportunity for peace remains and is one that should be taken. In order for there to be long-term stability in Northern Ireland, there needs to be a comprehensive settlement embracing all the main relationships and so the Government will continue to progress the talks process with the main constitutional parties and the Irish Government on the basis of the statement of 26 March 1991.
