§ Mr. AncramAll schools are required to provide religious education for all pupils of compulsory school age. In schools under the control of the education and library boards, such education must be undenominational and based on the holy scriptures. In voluntary schools religious education is under the control of the school managers. A compulsory core syllabus, entirely Christian in content, has been approved by all the main churches in Northern Ireland and is being introduced into all grant-aided schools on a phased basis.
