To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what discussions he or his officials have had with his counterpart in the Irish Republic over the past year in regard to the quantity and type of toxic waste imported into the United Kingdom from the Republic.

My hon. Friend the then Minister for the Environment and Countryside met the Irish Environmental Protection Minister on 15 July last year, when a number of issues were discussed including the Irish Republic's plans for disposing of its hazardous waste.
