§ Mr. RedwoodThe standard guidance to board members of non-departmental public bodies is that they have an overall responsibility for supervising the direction and management of the body and need to ensure that judgments are exercised in the public interest; and that they are guardians of the public interest in the body's activities and in the discharge of its statutory duties. The chief executive is usually the accounting officer responsible for ensuring compliance with policies and rules.
