Mr. McGrady

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the actual cost of the proposed interconnector link project between Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Northern Ireland Electricity plc estimates the total cost of the project to be £175 million at December 1992 prices.

Mr. McGrady

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what consultations he has had with regard to the contract and costs of the arrangement between Northern Ireland Electricity and Scottish Electric in respect of the interconnector project.

None. This is a matter for the two parties concerned, NIE plc and Scottish Power plc.
