§ Mr. Alex CarlileTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish a table showing the number of vacancies in jobcentres that were(a) temporary and (b) permanent in each quarter since December 1990 in each region; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Michael ForsythResponsibility for the subject of the question has been delegated to the Employment Service Agency under its chief executive. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given.
Letter from M. E. G. Fogden to Mr. Alex Carlile, dated 14 February 1994:
The Secretary of State has asked me to reply to your question about the numbers of vacancies in Jobcentres.
Tables showing the number of temporary and permanent vacancies notified to Jobcentres by region were published in Hansard on 8 December 1993, column 212 refers. The information covers the period from April 1987 to 8 October 1993.
I enclose a table which gives similar information for the latest available period, from 11 October 1993 to 7 January 1994.
I hope this is helpful.
