To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish information giving details of the capital provided in the Budget for(a) Teesside and (b) Tyne and Wear for the provision of housing for each year since 1987.

Capital for the provision and maintenance of housing is provided to English local authorities through housing investment programme—HIP—allocations, which are issued annually by the Department.

Information on HIP allocations made to each local authority in England for each year from 1979–80 to 1993–94 is available in the Library.

Information on HIP allocations for 1994–95 will be placed in the Library shortly. Information on 1994–95 allocations for those local authorities within the county of Cleveland, and within the former county of Tyne and Wear, are given in the table:
