To ask the Attorney-General if he will list the size, grades and costs of the staff of the Treasury Solicitors' Department in each of the last three years ending on 31 March and the current figures for numbers and grades.

The costs of staff of the Treasury Solicitor's Department in each of the last three years ending on 31 March were:

  • 1990–91 £12559 million2
  • 1991–92 £14088 million
  • 1992–93 £15073 million

1Includes legal officers and senior legal assistants.

21990–91 includes notional figure for superannuation of £1.642 million.

Superannuation was only charged in cash terms from I April 1991.
