§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of the Environment (The Earl of Arran)The purchase of the Vauxhall Cross site and new building from the developers (Regalian plc) by the Property Services Agency was authorised by the Government in 1988. Construction started in 1990 and was supervised by the developer together with the Government's project managers. The cost of the site and134WA new building was £144 million. The programme provision for fitting out and equipping the building by the Secret Intelligence Service is £86 million.
