How many people have died since 1963 at the hands of previously convicted killers.

Earl Ferrers

Information on the number of suspects who are convicted of homicide and who had previous homicide convictions is published annually inCriminal Statistics, England and Wales—tables 4.10 and 4.11 of the latest issue, for 1992, Cm. 2410—copies of which are in the Library.

During the period 1963–1992, a total of 72 persons in England and Wales were killed by persons who had previously been convicted of homicide.

Not all persons who have been convicted of homicide are sentenced to life imprisonment.
