§ Mr Lennox-BoydThe Indonesian national police project is concerned with the provision of public service management advice and training within the INP and with the development of a more community-based approach to policing. The United Kingdom has not recognised the annexation of East Timor by Indonesia, and we do not therefore fund Government-to-Government aid projects in East Timor. However, some Indonesian public officials trained under our aid programme may subsequently serve in East Timor. It is our hope that the assistance we provide will influence all those receiving it and help develop respect for human rights in Indonesia and East Timor.
