To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the number of processing plants producing animal protein for incorporation into animal feeding stuffs, in each year since 1981; and how many such plants were inspected by her officials in each of those years.

The number of plants varied from year to year as plants opened or closed or in some cases did not operate on any continual basis. All plants when actually producing animal protein for incorporation into animal feeding stuffs have been subject to official inspection during the year. Their numbers are as follows:
