Mrs. Ewing

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total income received by each district council from the sales of council houses in each of the past five years; what percentage of these have been reclaimed by his Department, and what is the projected figure, from each council, for the building of new council housing in the next financial year.

The following table gives details of district council receipts from the sale of council houses for the years 1988–89 to 1992–93. The Department does not reclaim any such receipts.

Information on the numbers of new council houses which district councils plan to build in the next financial year is not held centrally.
