§ Mr. Bayley
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many inspectors the inspectorate of constabulary had in May 1993; and how many of these were lay inspectors.

§ Mr. Charles Wardle
In May 1993, there were seven inspectors of constabulary and one chief inspector of constabulary in Her Majesty's inspectorate of constabulary. There were no lay inspectors in post at that time.
