To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on progress within his Department's deregulation unit.

Mr. Aitken

My Department is playing a full part in the deregulation initiative. As a non-regulatory Department the Ministry of Defence has focused its efforts on relieving unnecessary administrative burdens on its suppliers; streamlining contract procedures, and improving communications with industry.
