The upkeep of the trunk road network is an ongoing daily task requiring maintenance and improvement works.
§ Mr. Tony BanksTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport which London bridges are currently closed or affected by roadworks; and which bridges are due for closure or roadworks during 1994.
§ Mr. NorrisNone of the Secretary of State's bridges across the River Thames is currently closed or affected by road works. Roadworks are in progress on Blackfriars bridge and Lambeth bridge. I am advised by the local highway authorities that Westminster bridge, Albert bridge, Putney bridge and possibly London bridge are likely to be affected by works during the remainder of 1994.
