§ Mr. LlwydTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what Welsh Office scrutiny there is of the working of the Development Board for Rural Wales; and if he will make a statement.
§ Sir Wyn RobertsThe Development Board for Rural Wales, like other non-departmental public bodies, is subject to a range of controls, direction and monitoring as required by the Development of Rural Wales Act 1976 and as set out in the board's financial memorandum and other guidelines. In addition, the board is set a number of targets, objectives and performance measures and in the context of its corporate planning cycle. I shall be chairing a meeting with the board in the summer to discuss its corporate plan targets for 1995–96. The board's finances are monitored on a monthly basis and its accounts are audited by the National Audit Office.
