To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what steps he plans to take to introduce more clarity and efficiency into the system of forms for the support schemes for agriculture in Wales; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 4 February]: I wish to see forms and explanatory literature kept as simple and straightforward as possible, although they inevitably have to be comprehensive enough to inform farmers of the full range of scheme rules. I have established a working group which will report to me in the near future on the streamlining of agri-environmental and other schemes in Wales.
