National health service trust chairmen's remuneration is paid on the basis of the following three bands, according to unit turnover:

Unit turnover 1988–89 Band Rates per annum (£)
In excess of £50 million Band 1 19,285
Between £20 million and £50 million Band 2 17,145
Less than £20 million Band 3 15,125
