The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about plans to rebuild or replace HMP Pucklechurch as a male remand centre, suitale for young offenders.The Prison Service has no such plans. Pucklechurch has not been used as a male remand centre since April 1990. It is intended that the female prison will close in October 1995, after which the site may be sold.
