Sir David Knox

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many and what percentages of adults and children, distinguishing between claimants, adult dependants and child dependants, received(a) supplementary benefit or income support, (b) family income supplement or family credit, (c) rent rebates or rent allowances or (d) rate rebates or community charge benefit or council tax benefit in each year since 1978–79.

The available information is set out in the tables. Housing benefit is the Northern Ireland equivalent to community charge benefit and council tax benefit.
