HC Deb 03 February 1994 vol 236 c833W
Mr. Mullin

To ask the Attorney-General if he will list(a) the cases in which charges have been dropped and (b) the convictions quashed since the decision by the chief constable of the West Midlands to disband the West Midlands serious crime squad.

The Attorney-General

There is no central record of cases involving officers of the West Midlands serious crime squad. Inquiries amongst relevant CPS staff have identified no such cases which have been dropped by the prosecution, but have identified 23 appellants whose appeals have been allowed by the Court of Appeal. The inquiries covered the period from 15 August 1989.
