Mr. Dunnachie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons aged 65 years and over received major heart surgery in Scottish hospitals in the 12-month period ended December 1990 and in the 12-month period ended December 1993; and if he will make a statement.

The number of cardiac procedures performed in Scottish hospitals on people aged 65 and over in 1990 and in 1993 is set out in the table.
