Mr. Menzies Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what is his Department's policy for dealing with employees found guilty of fraud.

Mr. Sproat

[holding answer 1 February 1994]: Where an employee is found guilty of fraud the circumstances of the case would be thoroughly investigated and an appropriate disciplinary penalty, which might include dismissal, would be invoked.

Mr. Menzies Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage how many employees were judged to be guilty of fraud in his Department in each year since 1989; and how many were dismissed.

[holding answer 1 February 1994]: The Department of National Heritage was established in April 1992, since when no employees have been found guilty of fraud.
