Mr. Madel

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects the contractors to complete their current work around junction 9 on the M1; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Key

The contractors expect the work to widen the M1 between junctions 9 and 10 to be substantially complete by the middle of February, but this date could be affected by adverse weather conditions. Minor operations will continue beyond then but should not cause delays to traffic.
