HC Deb 02 February 1994 vol 236 c758W
Sir Thomas Arnold

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what assessment he has made of the amount of money paid to the travelling public by British Rail under the terms of the citizens charter.

Mr. Freeman

British Rail launched the passengers charter in March 1992. I understand that between April 1992 and November 1993 it paid £4.4 million in compensation to passengers under the terms of the charter.
