HL Deb 02 February 1994 vol 551 cc95-6WA
Lord Braine of Wheatley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are their plans for improving the A.127.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Lord Mackay of Ardbrecknish)

Our consultants are investigating ways of improving the A.127 to dual three-lane standard between its junctions with the M.25 and the new junction at Rayleigh Weir. Further progress will be subject to the outcome of the current review of the trunk roads programme.

Lord Braine of Wheatley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they expect to complete the roadworks on the A.127 between Rayleigh and Basildon.

Lord Mackay of Ardbrecknish

Roadworks on the A.127 in Essex between A.130 Fairglen interchange and A.132 Nevendon interchange were completed on 26 January.

Some further works are planned for February and March: resurfacing of the eastbound carriageway between the A.176 Basildon interchange and Gardiners Lane North in late February and partial reconstruction and bridgeworks on the westbound carriageway between Basildon Motors and east of Basildon interchange from mid-March. The roadworks are each expected to take about two weeks but the bridgeworks will take some two months to complete. Overnight carriageway closures and some daytime off-peak lane closures will be required. Local diversions will be in operation.

These essential works have been carefully planned to minimise disruption to road users.
