Mr. Steinberg

To ask the Secretary of State for Education if he will give details of the training to be given to civil servants who will staff the proposed regional offices within the Department for Education.

Mr. Boswell

With effect from 1 May 1994, a group of staff working at the Department for Education will be given specific responsibility for regional links and for ensuring proper co-ordination with those Departments represented in the Government's integrated regional offices. Staff will be provided with training as appropriate to their individual needs.
