HC Deb 20 December 1994 vol 251 c1077W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the cost of maintaining the Treasury model in terms of(a) direct staff costs and (b) other costs.

Mr. Nelson

The equivalent of around five full-time posts are currently devoted to economic model building and development. This staff requirement translates to a cost—including basic pay, national insurance and superannuation costs—of around £200,000 per year. It is very difficult to estimate the indirect costs involved, but these could add a further £100,000 per year if the costs of accommodation, senior management time, training and other items are taken into account.
