To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his answer of 12 December,Official Report, column 457, on market testing, what is the total value of the contracts awarded.

The total annual value of contracts placed following the examination of defence support activities up to September 1994 was approximately £350 million. This figure represents a considerable saving on the original annual operating costs of the 46 activities involved.
