To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many grant-maintained schools there were on 1 January 1993 and 1 January 1994 respectively; how many are there today; and if he will make a statement.

Four, 15 and 16 respectively. The decision to establish a GMS is one for the school and the parents of children attending the school.
