HC Deb 19 December 1994 vol 251 c872W
20. Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport to what extent lobbying by Decision Makers influenced departmental decisions on Ebbsfleet.

Dr. Mawhinney

Decision Makers had no influence on the Government's decision that three would be an international and domestic intermediate station on the channel tunnel rail link at Ebbsfleet, which I announced on 31 August. As I told the House on 21 November, the assessment of each of the intermediate station option was based on studies undertaken by Union Railways and its consultants. It was carried out on an entirely even-handed basis. No unfair advantage was given to the Ebbsfleet Promoters.
