Responsibility for the subject of the question has been delegated to the Employment Service under its chief executive. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given.
Letter from M. E. G. Fogden to Mr. David Chidgey, dated 19 December 1994: The Secretary of State has asked me to reply to your question about the absenteeism rate in the Employment Service for the years 1991, 1992 and 1993. Our central payroll records hold information on individual absence details for sickness absence, special leave without pay and maternity leave but not aggregated information on absenteeism. I am therefore unable to provide this information which could only be obtained at a disproportionate cost. I am sorry I cannot be more helpful.
