§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonUnder the hospice funding initiative, which began on 1 April 1990 and ends on 31 March 1995, 13 hospices in Scotland which meet the eligibility criteria receive 50 per cent. of their current running costs from public funds, by grant and/or in kind. From the start of the 1995–96 financial year, the initiative will be replaced by a system of contracts between hospices and health boards.
