§ Mr. Gwilym JonesThe Government's approach was set out in "This Common Inheritance: The Third Year Report", Cm. published in May. A range of measures is being taken including tighter emission standards and changes to fuel composition which should lead to a progressive decline in traffic pollution. A crackdown on offending vehicles was announced in October, and further measures are under consideration.
