§ Mr. Austin Mitchell
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the increase in interest rates on 7 December was at his request or on the recommendation of the Governor of the Bank of England.

§ Mr. Nelson
As is clear from the published minutes, the Chancellor of the Exchequer is responsible for all interest rate decisions. The Governor's advice at the 7 December meeting will be published on 11 January 1995.
