§ Mr. AncramThe latest available figures from the quarterly employment survey show that at June 1994 there were an estimated 22,990 persons employed in hotels and catering and 14,800 employed in the manufacture of footwear and clothing. More detailed figures on industrial activities such as linen and road haulage are available only from the census of employment. Results from the September 1991 census show that there were 1,866 persons employed in the linen industry and 4,243 in road haulage.
