§ Mr. MaloneChairmen of national health service trusts receive annual remuneration in the range of £15,125 to £19,285. The annual remuneration of non-executive directors of NHS trusts is £5,000. They are also entitled to claim allowances, at rates set centrally, for travel and subsistence necessarily incurred on trust business. Details of such payments are not available centrally.

§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyI have today approved 13 applications from hospitals and other units wishing to become national health service trusts. I have also given approval to two trust-to-trust mergers. Details have been placed in the Library.
