HC Deb 12 December 1994 vol 251 cc469-70W
Mr. Ieuan Wyn Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will make a statement on her Department's latest assessment of the prevalence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; and what plans she has for treatment within the national health service.

Mr. Bowis

Research findings have estimated a prevalence of 1.7 per cent. in a population of primary school boys but there are gender differences and geographical variations in distribution.

Children with hyperkinetic disorders are seen routinely within child mental health services and paediatric services.
