§ Mr. JackRates of hill livestock compensatory allowances for the 1995 scheme were announced on 29 November. As in previous years, we took into account those factors which affected the net farm incomes of hill farmers this year, including the levels of support which hill farmers receive from the other livestock subsidy schemes and the returns from livestock markets. The decision was taken against the background of continuing pressure to reduce public expenditure.
