HC Deb 07 December 1994 vol 251 cc274-5W
Mr. McAvoy

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what provision he has made in the current financial year in financial allocations to Scottish Enterprise and the Glasgow Development Agency for making safe land contaminated by toxic waste.

Mr. Stewart

No specific allocations are made to Scottish Enterprise or to local enterprise companies for expenditure on dealing with land contaminated by toxic waste. Such expenditure is met from the block allocation for environmental expenditure. The expenditure provision for Scottish Enterprise on the environment block in 1994–95 amounts to £78 million.

The distribution of expenditure resources among local enterprise companies is a matter for decision by Scottish Enterprise. Glasgow Development Agency's budget allocation for 1994–95 on the environment block amounts to £13.680 million.
