Mr. Robert G. HughesThe annual salary of the Director-General of research councils is £75,000 with the possibility of an annual lump-sum non-pensionable performance bonus of up to 20 per cent. of salary. Since taking up appointment in January 1994, the Director-General has carried out the functions set out in paragraphs 3.26–3.28 of the White Paper, "Realising Our Potential".
