§ Mr. SoamesThe possibility of establishing a multinational Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe peacekeeping mission is being discussed at the CSCE summit in Budapest. Any United Kingdom contribution would be judged against a range of factors including whether a political settlement had been reached and whether a clear mandate existed for the mission. It would also need to be considered in the light of our other military commitments.
