To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what has been the refusal rate for community care grants and social fund loans for each of the last five years by region.

The information requested is set out in the tables. It is by Benefits Agency territories.

The main reason that community care grants are refused is because the applicant fails to meet the eligibility criteria.
