HC Deb 05 December 1994 vol 251 cc67-8W
Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many incidents involving sheep dip solution contaminating(a) rivers and lakes and (b) the domestic water supply have been reported for each year since 1987.

Mr. Atkins

I have been asked to reply:

  1. (a) This information has been published since 1990 in National Rivers Authority annual reports on water pollution incidents in England and Wales.
  2. (b) Results of the monitoring of public water supplies in England and Wales are published in the drinking water inspectorate's annual reports. One incident involving a sheep dip chemical was reported in 1994. There is no centrally held data for private supplies, but my 68 Department is aware of four incidents at one site between 1991 and 1993 involving sheep dip chemicals.
