§ Mr. RedmondTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many Royal Air Force(a) Hawker Siddley Buccaneer, (b) English Electric Canberra and (c) Hawker Hunter aircraft are currently being preserved; what type marks they have; where they are currently based; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. SoamesAt present there are four Buccaneers, type mark 2B, in storage and 1 Canberra, type mark T4, held in storage at RAF St Athan. There are no Hawker Hunter aircraft being held in storage by the Royal Air Force. The Buccanneer aircraft have been purchased by Hanifield Metals and are being held for collection by the purchaser. The Canberra is held at present in the Fleet Management Reserve long-term reserve category.
