HL Deb 29 April 1994 vol 554 c53WA
Lord Inglewood

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they consider that the trunk road system in South-West Cumbria is adequate, and whether, bearing in mind the considerable environmental, engineering and traffic implications of any improvement, a special study will be put in hand by the Department of Transport to draw up proposals taking into account all these factors.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Lord Mackay of Ardbrecknish)

Yes. We considered the adequacy of the trunk road system in this area very carefully as part of our recent review of the roads programme. The network is kept under constant review. We have no plans for a special study in South-West Cumbria.
