§ Mr. AncramThere are no abattoirs in Northern Ireland approved for the slaughter of equines. In 1993, 20 abattoirs were approved for the slaughter of other animals and those slaughtered some 453,000 cattle, 981,000 pigs and 1 million sheep worth in total some £403 million.
