HC Deb 25 April 1994 vol 242 cc64-5W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what discussions the Minister for Health had about accident and emergency services during his visit to Whipps Cross hospital on 21 April; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Mawhinney

I saw work under way on the £750,000 upgrading of the accident and emergency department. I learnt of plans to appoint three additional consultants and to make a number of service improvements. I am delighted that 98 per cent. of people attending the department are assessed by a nurse within four minutes of arrival.
