HL Deb 25 April 1994 vol 554 c25WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Which organisations and individuals were asked their views on the draft joint circular Gypsy Sites and Planning, circular 00/93; what was the nature of the responses; and whether two months was adequate time for those concerned to formulate their views and submit their responses.

The Earl of Arran

Copies of the draft circularGypsy Sites and Planning were sent to gypsy organisations and groups with an interest in gypsy matters, local authority associations and other organisations with an interest in planning. Further copies of the draft were available on request. A list of those consulted has been placed in the Library of the House.

There were over 200 responses. These varied, but in general the revised guidance, which is now published in the joint Department of the Environment/Welsh Office Circular 1/94, was welcomed. From the responses received, I am satisfied that the normal two months period for consultation was adequate.
